In simple words
The Holy Spirit works IN the believer, works THROUGH the believer, and
works FOR the believer.
IN us: He gives new birth, indwells, teaches, assures, sanctifies and produces
spiritual fruit.
THROUGH us: He gives gifts, power and boldness to serve and witness for Christ.
FOR us: He helps us in prayer, guides us and assures us of our relationship with
God.
One important biblical principle
The believer is not called merely to have the Holy Spirit, but to walk
by the Spirit:
“If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.”
Galatians 5:25
Therefore, the evidence of the Holy
Spirit's work is not only spiritual experiences or gifts, but also Christlike
character, obedience to God's Word, love for others, holiness,
spiritual fruit and faithful witness for Jesus Christ.
